The Foreign Minister of Canada, Mr. Stéphane Dion, talks about the importance of political dialogue and cooperation among the Allies, as well as the legacy of the Committee’s recommendations in current NATO non-military activities. Since its founding in 1949, NATO has always been shaped as a political-military Alliance. In 1956 however, Allies realised that a continuous political dialogue within NATO was not always assured. For this reason, the Foreign Ministers of Canada, Italy and Norway, Lester B.
