In response to Russia’s aggressive actions against Ukraine, NATO has strengthened its defences and suspended practical cooperation with Russia. However, NATO continues to keep channels for dialogue open. The NATO-Russia Council, an important platform for dialogue, has met seven times since April 2016. The Council has made progress, by addressing both force posture and military exercises, including through reciprocal briefings.
