During the NATO Summit in Wales in 2014, a decision was made to increase staff numbers of the Corps and to raise the level of readiness of the organisation from a Forces of Lower Readiness Headquarters to a High Readiness Force Headquarters and to enhance its capability to address future threats and challenges. If the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), or so-called Spearhead Force, of the NATO Response Force were to be deployed to the region, MNC NE would be able to command and control the VJTF and coordinate logistical support. MNC NE is home to more than 400 military personnel from 21 countries.
